Vaccination is the most effective way to protect your adolescent from diseases that can cause serious harm.

On these pages, you’ll find information about the diseases that can cause harm to adolescents before and after they reach adulthood and the vaccines recommended to protect them. This includes information about vaccines provided by the National Immunisation Program at ages 11–12 and 14–16 years and answers to questions about vaccine safety, common reactions, risks, benefits and more.

What vaccines are recommended for your adolescent?

The National Immunisation Program (NIP) Schedule is a series of immunisations recommended for all Australians at specific times from birth through to adulthood. All vaccines listed in the NIP Schedule are free. The NIP Schedule was last updated on 1 July 2024.
